Presented by State CAMFT Attorney's
Friday October 21st, 2022
9:00 am - 4:00 pm
This Will Be A Live Virtual Workshop
Southwest Riverside County Chapter of CAMFT invites you to join us for the most amazing mandated Law and Ethics Workshop in Southern California! There are two (2) three hour virtual topics in this Law and Ethics workshop which you will view right from the comfort of your own home or office.
9:00am - 12pm: “You Are Ordered to Appear in Person: When a Therapist is called to Testify” - Attorneys use subpoenas to compel witnesses to appear to give testimony in litigation. Understandably, those few sheets of paper have the power to induce instant anxiety in the recipient. To combat that anxiety, in this three-hour presentation, CAMFT Staff Attorney Kristin Roscoe will go through the ins and outs of subpoenas and provide attendees with a greater understanding of what to look for and what to expect when called to provide testimony.
Noon-1pm: Lunch
1pm-4pm: “Recommended Practices for School-Based Psychotherapists” - This three-hour workshop provides an overview of key considerations for therapists who provide services in school settings. The presenters will discuss the importance of planning services, defining your role, and distinguishing whether services are subject to California law/HIPAA, or California law/“FERPA” (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act). Topics to be addressed include confidentiality, record-keeping, consent to treatment, and collaborating with school staff. A significant portion of the workshop will be devoted to the discussion of circumstances that therapists commonly encounter when working in school settings. The workshop will be led by Sara Jasper, Esq. & Mike Griffin, Esq., CAMFT Staff Attorneys.
