Southwest Riverside County Chapter of CAMFT invites you to join us for the most amazing mandated Law and Ethics Workshop in person in Southern California where you can learn, eat, and enjoy yourself with us in Temecula’s beautiful wine county!  The training will be provided by David Jensen, JD.

Course Description:
This six-hour presentation on law and ethics will address a wide-variety of topics including, but not limited to, the clinician’s decision-making process, including suicidality and Tarasoff issues; advertising; psychotherapist-patient privilege issues; the “Golden Rule of Confidentiality”; service of subpoenas; responding to subpoenas; handling of suspected child abuse reports; recordkeeping trends; and, various business structures for psychotherapy practices. This course is designed to expose therapists to a wide-variety of laws and regulations concerning issues arising within their practices and to develop their confidence in addressing such issues.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will be able to identify three key principles of sound clinical thinking.
  • Participants will be able to name three different business structures for providing mental health services to consumers.
  • Participants will be able to describe five situations that will likely affect their practices and what to do about them.

Presenter:
A popular and engaging presenter, Mr. Jensen has given numerous workshops throughout the state on compliance issues for psychotherapists. In addition to providing workshops for local chapters of CAMFT, he also conducts trainings for nonprofit agencies, government agencies, and universities.

Early Bird Registration:
Sign up by September 1 to get last year's rates for this year's workshop! After September 1, rates will increase so lock in your savings now.

Registration Deadline:
Due to the elegant environment of this SWRC-CAMFT event and the 
requirement to provide firm numbers , seating is limited in this venue, so all registrations must be received by Friday, October 6 by 5pm. Registration in person will NOT be allowed.

Payment:
Payment by credit card only. No checks will be accepted.

Cancellation Policy:
Due to the logistics of this SWRC-CAMFT Event, any request for cancellation must be received no less than ten (10) days prior to this SWRC-CAMFT Event. Additionally, a request for cancellation is subject to a $25.00 administration fee. No cancellations for this SWRC-CAMFT Event will be available less than ten (10) days prior to this SWRC-CAMFT Event.

Dietary Restrictions:
To request a vegetarian, gluten free or vegan lunch option, after registering, you must send a separate email to the chapter at:  southwestriversidecountycamft@gmail.com.

Continuing Education:
This lecture–format course meets the qualifications for six (6) hours of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LE's, and LPCCs required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. This course level is for beginners, intermediate, and advanced practitioners. This course is intended for people working in mental health care, public health, education, justice, or social services.

Southwest Riverside County Chapter of CAMFT (Provider Number 94446) is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor continuing education for LMFTs, LCSWs, LEPs, and LPCCs. Southwest Riverside County CAMFT maintains responsibility for this program/course and its content.

CE certificates will be provided on site at the close of the workshop. Full day attendance is required, along with completion of the provided course evaluation, in order to receive your certificate.

General Information:
While SWRC-CAMFT strives to to assure fair treatment for all participants, there will be occasional issues which come to the attention of the workshop staff which will require action on the part of the SWRC-Board. Please put all grievances in writing about a speaker, the content presented by the speaker, the style of presentation, workshop offering, it's content, level of presentation, or the facilities in which the workshop was offered. SWRC-CAMFT will keep all grievances in confidentiality and work to remedy the situation as quickly as possible.
