Bio:
Chaundra Prehara, LMFT, Desert-CAMFT Director of Education and Events, Desert CAMFT, member PsiAN (Psychotherapy Action Network) has been in private practice for 20+ years in the San Francisco Bay Area and for the past five years in the desert. For the past four years she has been the Director of Education and Events for Desert CAMFT. She is passionate about people receiving excellent therapy that allows them to live more meaningful and authentic lives and therapists having a satisfying career personally and financially.

Description:
Some positive products of the pandemic have been: an increased demand for therapy services, expanded flexibility in how services can be delivered, and the reinforcement of a strong median wage for therapists. However, against the backdrop of these positive changes, two other energies have grown that will change and potentially destabilize the psychotherapy profession: the industrialization of psychotherapy (growth of private equity companies in our field) and the continued medicalization of our field (as seen in part in the way that our profession was included in the No Surprises Act). These changes will impact our profession and now is the time to inform yourself so that you have the maximum opportunities of choice and voice.

Learning Objectives:

  • List eight corporations that have a presence in the workspace of therapists
  • Understand who two of the most popular of these companies are, how they operate and how they are growing
  • Understand why private equity is targeting the therapy market
  • Understand the challenges that may arise for us as therapists and for our clients if private equity continues to grow market share in our profession
  • Understand the ways that psychological treatment is fragmenting and colluding in its own demise, and how the No Surprise Act is evidence of our collusion.

CEU Quiz and CertificateA link to the quiz, which must be taken and passed in order to receive the certificate, will be provided during the session. In addition, an email with appropriate links will go out to all registrants after the course is completed.
