Our chapter meeting for May will be held a week earlier than usual due to the Memorial Day weekend. CE credits are free for chapter members; non-members will be given the opportunity to purchase 2 CE hours for $20 at the end of the presentation.

Title: 
Differentiating CPTSD and PTSD and the Integral Role of Embodiment in Trauma Treatment

Presenter: 
Leslie Bullock, LCSW is a licensed psychotherapist in private practice in San Luis Obispo. Leslie specializes in treating individuals with Complex Trauma, PTSD, relational / attachment trauma and trauma-related stress. Her focus is the centrality of the mind / body connection and embodiment-based treatment for trauma healing. She is a Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM) practitioner with the Trauma Resource Institute, and a certified EMDR provider.

Description:
In a combination of didactic and experiential learning, this 2 CE credit workshop will provide an in-depth understanding of the clinical difference between CPTSD (Complex trauma) and PTSD, as well as discuss common trauma responses associated with CPTSD. A brief history of trauma theory and trauma diagnoses will be discussed for context. Participants will also learn about the continuum of dissociation and the healing role of embodiment in treating Complex trauma. Simple 1-2 minute practices will be demonstrated and practiced together to enable participants to utilize them with clients.

Objectives:

  • Participants will be able to name three criterion differentiating CPTSD from PTSD.
  • Participants will be able to identify the four categories of trauma responses.
  • Participants will be able to state three benefits of utilizing embodiment practices in Complex trauma treatment.
  • Participants will be able to name four embodiment practices for trauma healing.

Target Audience:
LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs as well as students, trainees and associates.

Breaks:
No breaks will be offered with this online course. Full attendance for the two hour session must be completed in order to obtain CE credits.

CE Certificate and Assessment: 
A link to the assessment, which must be completed in order to receive the certificate, will be provided during the session. In addition, an email with appropriate links will go out to all registrants after the course is completed.

Provision of Continuing Education:
This course meets the qualifications for two (2) hours of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. Southwest Riverside County Chapter of CAMFT (Provider Number 94446) is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor continuing education for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs. Southwest Riverside County Chapter of CAMFT maintains responsibility for this program/course and its content.
