Title
When Self Care Isn’t Enough – Managing Therapist Burnout

Bio
Lee Amaris Padden, M.A., LMFT, is the president of the Southwest Riverside chapter of CAMFT. She has a private practice in Temecula, CA and specializes in anxiety treatment. Her 20+ years in a high-paced corporate position managing teams with limited resources as well as her current role of managing her own private practice provides her with unique insight into how cumulative stress in the workplace can take its toll on therapists.

Description
This 2 CEU workshop will address the topic of therapist burnout. From developing compassion fatigue to experiencing vicarious trauma to being physically exhausted with overflowing calendars, mental health professionals are uniquely at risk for getting burned out as a direct result of our jobs. Further, with the pandemic we’ve all seen in an uptick in the demand for therapist services while also experiencing its impact on ourselves outside of the office. Sometimes, self-care just might not be enough, if we’re even making time for it. This workshop will explore what you can do other than take a bath or go for a walk to manage your work-related stress and avoid burnout.

Learning Objectives
Participants will be able to:

  • Understand the differences between burnout, compassion fatigue and vicarious trauma
  • Identify factors leading to therapist burnout
  • Learn strategies to prevent burnout
  • Manage symptoms of burnout

CEU Quiz and Certificate
A link to the quiz, which must be taken and passed in order to receive the certificate, will be provided during the session. In addition, an email with appropriate links will go out to all registrants after the course is completed.
